Pakistan celebrates Yalda Night together with Iran

The ancient ritual of Yalda Night has been celebrated beforehand in a number of Pakistani cities including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, and Karachi as a way to better know Iranian culture and traditions.

Yalda is the name by which the longest night of the year is known in Iran. Iranians mark the end of autumn and the advent of winter in one of the most celebrated national events known as Yalda Night.

Since ancient times, the Iranian people all over the world have annually celebrated this important astronomical occurrence in form of family gatherings and special rituals.

Pakistanis in some cities of the country also consider this night as the first night of winter and celebrate the cold season by holding a traditional celebration known as the Mah Feng festival.

To observe this night, Iran’s Cultural Attaché in Pakistan held a ceremony in Rawalpindi and congratulated the people of the two neighboring countries on the arrival of this night while emphasizing that holding these rituals is an opportunity to be together and spread friendships and kindness.

Among the guests at the ceremony were a number of Iranian diplomats, a group of Iranians living in Islamabad, professors and students of Persian language and literature of National University of Modern Languages.
